Ken McCracken
Dr Barbara Murray and I started FBS in 2000. Barbara was the founder of the Centre for Family Enterprise (CFE) - the first executive eductaion programme for family enterprises in the UK - and I was a partner in the law firm which helped to sponsor the CFE.
We created FBS to help enterprising families with succession planning and governance and to be an influential and enthusiastic champion of family entrepreneurship. I am now the managing director of FBS.
The clients I help range from first generation entrepreneurial businesses to diverse multi-generational family enterprises. They have two things in common: a determination to plan for the future rather than leave it to chance, and a desire to ensure to have in place the best form of governance for their type of family enterprise.
I am regularly invited to speak and write on issues affecting family businesses and family offices, and I also provide strategic advice and training on family enterprises for other advisers and groups such as professional associations, educators and trade bodies.
I have been a member of the Family Firm Institue (FFI), an international association of family business advisers and educators since 1997, and am a past recipient of the FFI award for outstanding interdisciplinary achievement. I am also a member of the advisory board of the Family Business Wiki www.familybusinesswiki.org whose mission is "to share family business knowledge around the world."
